Honda Aircraft Company’s fastest and most fuel-efficient private jet in its class, HondaJet, recently accomplished two separate speed records in U.S. President and CEO, Michimasa Fujino, had described the highest-flying plane as the ‘crystal of sweat and tears’.

HondaJet Features

The long-term research activities blending advanced technologies and concepts have resulted in HondaJet. Honda patented the Over-The-Wing Engine Mount (OTWEM) configuration. The private jet is featured with a natural laminar flow wing, composite fuselage, and fuselage nose. It has a maximum cruise speed of 422 knots (486 mph) and a maximum altitude of 43,000 feet. The jet has up to 17% of fuel efficiency and an NBAA IFR range of 1,223 nautical miles (1,408 miles). The features include minimised cabin sound and ground-detected noise, spacious cabins, the largest baggage capacity, and a fully-serviceable private lavatory. The HondaJet is currently priced at $4.85 million.

HondaJet World Records

The busiest business aviation airports and popular routes were selected to demonstrate that patrons could quickly reach their destinations. On April 9, 2016, HondaJet set the record between New Jersey and Florida. The jet departed Teterboro airport at 2:15 p.m. EST and landed at Fort Lauderdale Executive airport at 5:06 p.m., taking two hours and 51 minutes at a cruising altitude of 43,000 feet. The jet accomplished a ground speed of 414 knots (478 mph).

The second record was set from Boston to Palm Beach. The flight departed on July 19, 2016, from New Bedford Regional Airport at 7:18 a.m. EDT and landed at Palm Beach International airport at 10:16 a.m. taking two hours and 58 minutes. It accomplished a maximum ground speed of 422 knots (486 mph).

The US National Aeronautic Association approves the records. Approvals are pending by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale in Switzerland. Peter Kriegler and Glenn Gonzales piloted the flights.

The HondaJet will be showcased at the Middle East Business Aviation (MEBAA) Conference in Dubai during December 6-8, 2016.
