Russian designer, businessman, and writer Vasily Klyukin’s new design for a concept yacht has the potential to give yacht owners even more freedom on the open seas. He has named the concept yacht Monaco 2050, inspired by the city and year he hopes his creation will come alive.
The 37-year-old billionaire’s latest concept yacht includes all the typical luxury items found on a standard luxurious yacht and one substantial addition. The Monaco 2050’s upper deck will double as a helicopter/jet plane hybrid.
Although the concept of yachts with helicopter pads is nothing new to the high-end yacht and sailing world. This concept takes that even further, with rotors in the aircraft’s wings allowing it to lift off and hover to gain altitude, the autonomous unit will be able to rise off the deck of the yacht, no runway needed. After reaching approximately 1000 to 2000 meters, the pilot can switch on the jet engines, enabling the Monaco 2050 to fly great distances overseas. No longer restricting the yacht owners to travel a short distance by helicopter.

This technology is used in several fighter jets, and drone aircraft to date and Klyukin feels very strongly he will see the Monaco 2050 built in his lifetime. Vasily Klyukin has been reported to say that he believes the world shouldn’t have to wait 35 years for this concept and urges yacht builders to consider his design.
The Monaco 2050 is one of six other luxurious yachts from the brilliant mind of Klyukin. Including a vessel resembling a swan, and one that depicts the Manhattan skyline. Klyukin’s concepts also include a significant number of breathtaking office buildings, museums, and apartments. Klyukin believes a building should have a story to it, its legend.
